Old Drum on a Spinnerbait

46" Beast caught on a spinnerbait

We got this pig on a spinnerbait over the weekend. She measured 46 inches and was caught in 2 feet of water. Way too early to be inshore but we were glad she was. Got a few more slot reds over the past week but overall the fishing was slow with all of the bad weather we had last week. We still managed to cover a lot of water and pick a few fish up on topwater, spoons, spinnerbaits, and soft plastics. The hard southwest winds had the water very low and the fish had pulled way off the banks. The conditions were tough but we had a great weekend with two excellent fisherman. Pictured above is Dr George Brinson winner of six divisions in the 2010 Redbone Series Cape Fear Red Trout Tournament including "Grand Champion Angler." The cobia and bonita are here and I plan on running a few trips this week in pursuit of both.
