The weather has terrible this year so far with numerous fronts coming thru with high winds but the water temps are finally close to 70 degrees. Fishing has definitely picked up. Even on days where high winds persist we are catching good numbers of reds on soft plastics, spoons, and spinner baits. Its time to break out the popping corks and go to work. Fish are chewing on the outgoing tide around creeks, ditches, and grass flats as the water falls out. The past week some grown ones have been mixed in with the slot reds.
We have been catching some nice trout, black drum, flounder, and stripers.
Category 5 soft plastics have been the ticket. We had a 50 fish day on Tuesday with most of the fish coming from Cat5 shrimp minnows and manic minnows.

Friday Fishing
Went on an afternoon fishing trip Friday and caught this huge redfish. We caught several smaller, average size redfish and then this big guy took the bait. He fell for a new Category 5 Gutless Wonder rigged on a weighted hook. He hit it almost as soon as it hit the water. We knew it was something big but we were shocked when we saw it come out of the water. This fish was definitely the highlight of the trip. We hit several spots and caught fish at almost every spot. The Category 5 soft plastics seemed to be the ticket with the Purple Reign shrimp minnows, the Suicide Crocker and the Gutless Wonder. The water and air temps are rising and the fishing will only get better from this point forward. - Shannon
