I just wanted to thank all of you that attended the Saltwater Sportsman Seminar in Bolivia, NC in January. I met a lot of fisherman and received emails and calls from a lot of you and hope to see you soon on the water. Was great meeting George Poveromo and other great fisherman from around the country that have been an integral part in conservation efforts to restore fisheries in overfished/mismanaged areas. If you did not attend this seminar I would highly recommend it if you have a chance to in the future. The price for the Saltwater Sportsman seminars are $55 and that included a one year prescription of Saltwater Sportsman Magazine, raffles and door prizes, a kids seminar and much more. For much more on when and where the next seminars will be held go to this link: Below were the instructors for our area: WILMINGTON-AREA, NORTH CAROLINA Capt. Bouncer Smith Harry Vernon III Capt. Past couple trips

Got out a couple times the past week.  Took the wife out late Sunday afternoon for an hour.  We fished the flats and found several pods of reds in the clear cool water.  My wife landed one red to my none.  We spooked several fish as we were limited in time so we covered as much water as possible on the trolling motor.

Last Friday I went out of Carolina beach to see if I could find a stray striper coming down the beach.  I saw one fish bust a pogy on top but couldn't hook up.  The Gannetts were dive bombing large schools of very large pogies so there has to be a few off the beach.  I lost my focus as I was approached by two whales that came right up to my boat.  What a cool experience!

I got in one full day of fishing yesterday.  I fished for reds and specks early and boated five reds in short order, then tried to find some specks up river.  I never found the trout so I shifted gears and went striper fishing.  I landed 5 fish up to 28" and pulled the hooks on five more.  I was using large soft plastics on weighted hooks due to the structure I was fishing.  Pretty day on the water even though it was a little slow.

Tight lines,

Capt Ren
