Went out this afternoon to target my favorite species in the frigid water. Water temps never got above 45 and were 42 degrees most of the day. I started out fishing water I have not fished in quite a while, and fished a lot of areas I have never fished. Saw a school of fish in the first area-about 24 upper slot fish. Saw several pods of fish along the same shoreline and caught one. These fish were very skittish and rightfully so-a pod of porpoises came down the bank right as I started fishing. The water was crystal clear and very low. I moved over to another spot close by the first one and started seeing cruising fish and then I found larger schools. I caught about a dozen fish and could have caught a lot more. Left them biting and went trout fishing. The trout were there but would not take my offering. I caught one more redfish while trout fishing and called it a day.
