Capt Ren and I fished the Fisherman's Post Tournament Trail Championship Tournament Saturday. We set out early and hit our first spot in search of flounder and redfish. The tide was super high which was not ideal. I got our first little red of the day, about 18", and the second cast after that I hooked our first flounder. The flounder was about 18" and about 2.5lbs. We decided to move on after a few more casts with no big fish. We hit one of Rennie's spots and he landed a nice 23" red and we had the skunk out of the boat at that point so the real fishing could begin. After a somewhat slow start to the day we moved to a great spot. The tide was falling and the fish really turned on. We caught a few little 18-19" reds and several flounder before I cast and hooked a big boy. I was so excited to see that big back come out of the water. He was a perfect slot fish measuring 26.5" and weighing 6.03lbs. We wish he had been a little fatter but needless to say we were happy to have him. We kept fishing hoping to catch one that was a little heavier but ended up catching about 25 lower to mid slot reds. We did upgrade our flounder with one that measured 19" and 2.96 lbs. It was a great day on the water and we had a blast. We placed 3rd in the Aggregate Division with our 6.03lb red and 2.96lb flounder. We came in 8th in the redfish division and 2nd in the high roller TWT.
