Well after a week in Mosquito Lagoon, Fl I hit the road Wednesday afternoon to come for a charter early Thursday morning. Hit the water w an hour and a half
Of sleep in search for some red fishing on the flats. Ended up fishing several spots and caught a few reds on top water lures and soft plastics. Started off in the short grass and got a few reds on topwater. The tide did get high enough to flood the short grass enough for the reds to push up on top so we worked the edges of the grass with repeater lures. First fish was a fat 29" over slot. Got another one on top and a few more in the super skinny on soft plastics. Fish were crawling the banks chewing on shrimp. All reds were upper slots. Hit another spot at low tide and popped a nice red that was feeding on finger mullets, add a couple trout, and some flounder in the mix and we had the inshore slam. On the way back to the ramp we ran into a school of jacks and went on to catch several on top water lures. I even got two jacks at a time on my skitterwalk. Great day on the water!
