Redfish Action tourney

Had a good couple of days on the water pre fishing for the second redfish Action tourney out of Beaufort, NC. Hurricane D and I got reds on the flats working topwater lures and soft plastics. We got some around deeper structure as well. Conditions on game day are less than favorable. We were greeted by 15 mph northeast winds at our A spot. We also had a camera man from downeast outdoors aboard to cover our day. We eased the boat into position and staked out on our first school of fish. On my first cast I got blown up on a topwater bait by an upper slot. After a short battle we had our first fish in the release well-a nice 25 incher. On my next cast i had another red crush a topwater lure. This fish was about the same length as the first fish but was heavier due to being deformed with a jumped back. Drew was hooked up as well but his fish pulled the hooks. First two casts and we have two 25 inch fish in the boat with over 12 lbs of weight. That is how u want to start on tournament day. We caught 4 or five more reds while having multiple topwater strikes and a few fish that pulled our hooks at our first spot. We hit a couple more flats but were blown out due to the wind direction. We hit an area that bad been holding upper slot fish but only managed one more small red. We head to the scales to see how we fare against our competition. We end up in 3rd place which put us only one point behind in the team of the year race. It will come down to the final tournament on the IFA Redfish Tour and the redfish action series team of the year race. We r just a couple points back on the IFA Redfish Tour Atlantic division team of the year race as well.
