IFA Redfish Tour Charleston, SC

Hurricane Drew and I fished the redfish Tour event over the weekend in Charleston, SC. We covered a lot of water in two days of pre fishing. We found fish from Georgetown to edisto island and everywhere in between. We caught too many reds to count and many were over slot. We caught fish on topwater, soft plastics, and spoons. On game day we decided to fish an area where we thought the fish would chew the best on rising water when we had from checkout to mid day. Everywhere we had prefished the fish bit best on falling water. We wanted to make sure we caught fish early in the event our a spot was blown out and we didn't want to gamble on a short window bite on the falling tide. We hit our first spot and Drew started hot and boated our first fish a perfect 23" fish. We hit our next spot and i stuck a pig that was just a half inch over. The water was dirty from the wind so we hit our a spot. I stuck our second tourney fish a 22.5" fish but he was also skinny. it was 9:00 am and we had the rest of the day to upgrade. We caught about 20 more fish the rest of the day but every fish was just over 23". It was just one of those days where we just didn't get the right bites. Our a spot got dirty and blown out right before it was about to get right with the tide. We ended up finishing in 6th place with a little over 8 lbs. The finish put us in good shape for the team of the year race with us trailing two SC teams by two points with the last tourney on our turf .
